iPad Touchless Gestures, Kinect-Style

December 22nd, 2010 by Melvin No comments »

Could we see a Kinect-Style gesture system introduced at CES 2011 early next year? The device will place the iPad on a docking station and gestures "in the air" are read by the docking station and actions taken in the system. This would allow hands-free operation of your iPad especially when your hands are tied up when in the kitchen or in the garage. Check out the video after the break.

In the mean time, if you accidentally blended your iPad in your Blendtec, look at these new iPads for sale on eBay.

iPad Pre-Orders Tomorrow

March 11th, 2010 by Melvin No comments »

According to The Loop, Apple will be accepting pre-orders for their much anticipated iPad at 17:30 Pacific Time on Friday Mar 12, 2010. Details about this pre-order were issued to those who signed up at the Apple webiste for pre-order news.

The iPad will be available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB models with or without 3G data connection capabilities. The cheapest iPad is priced at $499 without 3G.

The pre-order represents a key metrics to measure the success of the iPad. For Apple, if they are swamped with pre-orders, it means that the newly released product from the Cupertino based company is a hit. However, there is an equal risk that the iPad may not be as stellar as consumers grasp to determine where this type of product fits within their gadget lifestyles. Only time will tell.

In the mean time, dust the cobwebs off your credit card and get ready for tomorrow's pre-order.

Apple iPad Price Cuts?

February 9th, 2010 by Melvin No comments »

If you feel that Apple has priced the iPad outside the reach of consumers like you, then you might be in luck. Apple's entry-level price for $499 for the iPad was surprisingly low by all market predictions prior to launch. Yet, there are still questions on whether there is room for another gadget like the iPad, especially at the $499 entry price.

However, the Wall Street Journal reveals that Apple is keeping the door open for future price adjustments on the iPad should the new product have a longer than expected shelf life. This was revealed through a research note from Credit Suisse analyst Bill Shope based on meetings with Apple executives.

Larger Tablet Rumors Emerge

February 1st, 2010 by admin No comments »

TechCrunch is claiming that Apple is working on an OS X version of a larger tablet that will feature a much more Mac like experience, as opposed to the iPhone experience of the iPad. The question is why would anybody need a tablet larger than the current iPad. The only foreseeable explanation is that Apple is designing their next generation iMac, with ultimate portability in mind. That's really not a bad idea, but finding where this product fits within the gadget void in our lives remain to be seen as many still struggle to see where the iPad is positioned.

But the information we’re hearing is that Apple is thinking much larger for another version of the product, maybe all the way up to the 15.4″ size that it currently uses for one version of the MacBook Pro. If you think that would be way too big for an iPad, we’re also hearing that this other tablet would be quite a bit different from the one revealed last week. Namely, it could run a version of OS X much closer to the traditional version that runs on Macs. --TechCrunch
